Salman turns TV producer with wrestler Gama Pehalwan’s biopic series
MUMBAI: After winning over fans as Sultan last year, Salman Khan is all set to produce a fascinating TV series on the life of 'invincible' wrestler Ghulam Mohammed aka the Great Gama. The story of the wrestler had caught Salman Khan's fancy several years ago, when the star reportedly expressed desire to make a film on him. However, the plan has not materialized and now insiders say that Salman's production house is taking Gama's story to the small screen instead. Sources say that the pilot episode has been shot and sent to the channel concerned. This show will mark Salman Khan's first television project as producer. Salman's younger brother, actor-producer Sohail Khan will play Gama in the TV show. Sources say that the story of Gama is set in his home town of Amritsar, from the days of the India-Pakistan partition. Undefeated in a career spanning over five decades, Gama was considered one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Post Independence in 1947, Gama moved to Pakistan. He died in 1960, at the age of 82. Casting for future episodes is underway.
